Social Responsibility

Banco ABC Brasil seeks to foster citizenship among its employees by promoting volunteer work initiatives as well as making donations as a way to directly support the development of society.

Matchfunding BNDES

In March 2020, Banco ABC Brasil raised with the donation of its employees approximately R$800,000 to contribute to the Emergency Fund for Health – Coronavirus Brazil (Fundo Emergencial para a Saúde – Coronavírus Brasil). This Fund was created by IDIS, Movimento Bem Maior, and BSocial to help public health institutions that were in the frontline of the fight against the pandemic, such as Fiocruz, Santa Casa de São Paulo, Santa Marcelina Hospital, and Comunitas. The funds were used to buy respirators, Covid-19 detection tests, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health professionals, ICU material, and medicines. For every R$1.00 donated by the employees, Banco ABC Brasil also contributed with R$1.00. Thus, the final total amount donated was almost R$1.6 million.

Also in 2020, the Bank joined the collective financing campaign Saving Lives (Salvando Vidas), launched by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). The initiative aimed to protect health professionals in hospitals across the country. The project was a partnership with the Confederação das Santas Casas de Misericórdia, Hospitais e Entidades Filantrópicas (CMB), SITAWI and Bionexo. For every R$1.00 donated for the purchase of protection equipment, BNDES contributed with another R$1.00. Banco ABC Brasil donated R$1 million to the campaign. The resources from the Saving Lives movement were invested in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic frontline, by purchasing material, supplies, and protection equipment, such as surgical masks, gloves, gowns, aprons, goggles, and face shields for doctors, nurses, and other health professionals.
